About Malta
There are
lots of things to do and see in Malta when you are not diving. From sandy
beaches to historic Palaces. Most places are easily reached by frequent
and cheap public bus service, or by hire car.

NORTHERN
MALTA

Selmun
Palace ~ A majestic palace
built in 1783 by the nights of St John.
The
Red Tower ~ Built in 1647 as the
furthest outpost from Valletta and signal post for communication with Gozo.
Sweethaven
village ~ Robin Williams starred
in this Popeye musical filmed in 1980, there are animation activities for all
ages.
Wignacourt
Tower ~ Built in 1610, and today
serves as a small museum housing the Island Fortress exhibition.
Mellieha
Beach ~
The longest sandy beach in Malta.
Malta
Classic Car Museum
~ A large selection of vehicles covering 50 years of manufacturing
and photo’s dating back to the 50’s. The museum is located on Tourist
Street in central Bugibba/Qawra.

Aviation Museum ~ Where you can

Rinella ~
Built in 1886 by British Royal Engineers.
Marsaxlokk
~ Traditional fishing village with a fish market on Sunday.

Iz-Zurrieq ~ A large inlet
from where you can take a short boat trip to the Blue Grotto.

Lapsi
~ A picturesque area for sun bathing and snorkeling.

VALLETTA
The
capital city built on a grid system with numerous places of interest.

To
name a few, National War Museum, National Museum of Archaeology, The Manoel
Theatre and Museum, The Toy Museum and The Upper Barrakka Gardens.
For
a splendid view of the harbours, enjoy a coffee break at Gunpost Café.
A Masonic
Lodge is almost opposite the Gunpost Cafe, and opens Saturday mornings (about
11) for socializing, drinks and food.

MDINA

Also
known as the Silent City. Recognized
as a UNESCO heritage site. Take a stroll through these quiet streets with
Dungeons, Palaces and Cathedrals.
Fantastic
views from the ramparts, and don’t forget a coffee and chocolate cake from
Fontinella Café.

THE
THREE CITIES
| Consisting
of Vittoriosa, Cospicua and Senglea. Opposite
the Grand Harbour, these unique cities were built before Valletta and home to
the first knights.
Fort
St. Angelo was built around 12th century AD and was the headquarters of
the Knights until Valletta was built.
The
Maritime Museum was housed in the former British naval bakery built in
1842. There are model ships, paintings, nautical instruments and
many more interesting things to look at. |
