Ralph
~ PADI Master Instructor |
|
 |
Melita is a PADI Course Director
(the highest Instructor level, one of approx 1600 worldwide,
and less than 1% of PADI professionals are Course
Directors), and Kevin is a PADI Master Instructor. Kevin is
ex-fire service, and Melita has a Mathematical Sciences
Degree. Between us we have dived in Australia, Barbados,
Cuba, Dominican Republic, Egypt, England, Fiji, Grenada,
Israel, Jamaica, Maldives, Mexico, Thailand, Turkey and St
Lucia. |
|
Both of us having worked in this industry for 11 years, we
have clocked up over 7,000 dives each, certifying over 1000
divers from Discover Scuba Diving to Instructor, Emergency
First Response and EFR Instructor. We are now able to run
our own Instructor Development Courses, which keeps our
teaching skills to the very highest level. The
safety of our
customers is also our primary concern. |
|
The dive centre is fully
licenced by the Malta Tourism Authority, and all of our
equipment is regularly maintained and serviced on site by
Kevin who is a qualified Aqua Lung Service Technician. We
offer mostly shore diving on Malta and Gozo, and boat diving
from a luzzu (traditional Maltese boat) or rib on Comino.
Being a small dive centre,
you will more than likely be diving with one of the owners,
allowing us to keep our teaching skills impeccable, and also
giving us the opportunity and enjoyment of meeting and
accompanying qualified divers. |

Melita won the Malta Tourism
Authority's award for best sports instructor 2008, and
was runner up in 2011. Kevin was runner up in 2009 and
2010. Members of the public are invited to vote for their
favourite instructor. We are very pleased that we have
received four awards in our first four years of opening, and
would like to say a big thank you to everyone who voted. |
|
We are also a member of the Professional Diving Schools
Association of Malta. |
| |
|
As
for our name, Corsair Diving, we looked for
something with relevance to Malta whilst being
original and memorable.
Corsair was the name of Mediterranean pirates who
protected the Maltese islands and the
Mediterranean.
The
Knights of Malta were captains of their own vessels,
their greatest victory being in 1565 when they drove
off an Ottoman fleet sent to capture Malta.

We are both qualified Gas Blenders, and offer nitrox courses and dives for
qualified users. |
 |
|
Kevin is also a
magician and loves karaoke (once he starts its
difficult to get him off).
Melita, unfortunately, just has to put up with
it……. |
