INSTRUCTOR DEVELOPMENT COURSE (IDC)

Pre-requisites - PADI Divemaster or leadership level certification with a recognized recreational diver training organization.

Minimum Age - 18 years old.

The IDC is normally held 9 days before the Instructor Exam (IE).  The course teaches you how to teach in the classroom, pool and open water.  It also goes through how to teach the core courses, and many other useful things you will need as a PADI Instructor.  The next IDC starts 30th October 2013.

The IDCs and IEs in Malta are normally held in March, May and November.

Pre-requisites  - Have completed a sanctioned course in adult CPR and basic first aid within the last 24 months.  Those with a current CPR and First Aid instructor credentials from other organisations may take the EFRI crossover program.  Practicing medical professionals do not need to have a provider level course within the last 24 months.  You do not need to be a diver.

Minimum Age - 18 years old.

You will go through the necessary skills so you can teach Emergency First Response courses including using an Automated External Defibrillator.

The exam is conducted by PADI staff, and when successful, you will be certified as an Open Water Scuba Instructor.

Pre-requisites - OWSI or higher, or completed an IDC program within the last 12 months.

Minimum Age - 18 years old.

Employers are demanding more and more these days.  Complete 5 Instructor specialties, and once certified, you can teach these specialties enabling you to teach more courses. Once you have certified 25 students, you can apply for your Master Scuba Diver Trainer, the next step on the Instructor ladder. 

You will be taught how to teach the specialty, the standards associated with the course, and many other useful things.

Pre-requisites - Master Scuba Diver Trainer (in teaching status) and EFR Instructor.

Minimum Age - 18 years old.

Take your teaching skills to a higher level.  You will have to complete the dive theory and standards exams, confined water and academic teaching presentations, and skill circuit, all with a higher pass mark than on your IDC.   

As part of the course you will audit a complete IDC, and practice your marking skills with real IDC candidates under the guidance of the Course Director.  

Next IDC Staff Instructor course starts 29th October 2013.  Courses normally held in March, May and November.

Duration - 1 day of Staff Instructor training, then 9 days of IDC.

What does this enable me to do? Independently teach Assistant Instructors at a 5 Star Dive Centre or Resort (or higher).  Assist on IDCs and Instructor level continuing education.

IDC PREPARATION COURSE

If it has been a while since your Divemaster, or you are crossing over from another organisation, this will be of benefit to you, as there is no time allocated on the IDC to go through theory.

We will go through Instructor level theory and make sure you are up to scratch.  Then we jump in the water to check that your skills are up to the standard expected on an Instructor course, and if necessary we will fine tune your skills.  

This can be completed the day before the start of the IDC.

RESORT COMBINED SKILLS OPERATIVE SPECIALTY

Pre-requisites - Open Water diver or equivalent

Minimum Age - 15 years old

A unique course offered  only at Corsair Diving (we are the only Instructors authorized by PADI to teach this specialty).

A course that helps you prepare for life in the diving industry.  All areas of this specialty will increase your chances for that dream job. 

Are you a Divemaster or Instructor that is inexperienced working in a resort based dive centre?  This course will give you the confidence and knowledge you need.

We will look at basic equipment maintenance which may help you save a dive, how to further your diving career, and compressor use, to name just a few topics on this course.

As there are no dives, this is an ideal course to take the day before you fly home.
